Item description from seller

"MURDER AT THE KEYHOLE!" by R.A.J. Walling with its original dust jacket. 1929 early reprint edition, 5th printing (stated); A.L. Burt Company; New York. The book is a Golden Age locked-room mystery novel that follows a classic whodunit premise set in an English country house. Eight men are gathered inside the library of Newplace Abbey, the country seat of the Redslade family. The room is entirely secure, with the windows closed and the door bolted shut from the inside. Suddenly, a shot rings out, and one of the prominent men in the room, Roger Pell, drops dead. The remaining seven men wait for the police to arrive, each secretly suspecting the other. However, when a Scotland Yard Inspector conducts a thorough search of both the suspects and the room, no weapon is found. The baffling mystery takes a turn when a young American named Martin Somerfield points out the massive keyhole in the thick oak door, raising the theory that the shooter might have fired from outside the room. To unravel the puzzle, cool-headed private detective Philip Tolefree is brought in to navigate a complex web of hidden secrets, suppressed motives, and the carefully maintained appearances of high-society etiquette. The book is well-regarded for its psychological depth and its ability to cleverly misdirect readers. Condition: Clean covers and spine. Sharp cover corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. Nice interior - the text pages are clean and appear unread with no notable issues found. Inscription written in pen dated 1933 on the front end paper. Overall the book is in Near Fine condition. The dust jacket has bits missing at the top/bottom edges of the spine, and at the flap corners; there is a small hole at the bottom-left corner of the back cover.overall the jackets is in Good condition. (The dust jacket comes with a clear, protective sleeve - not shown.).
