March, 1936" on copyright page - VERY RARE PRE-WWII AGATHA CHRISTIE PAPERBACK PUBLISHED WITH DUST JACKET - THERE WERE ONLY A HANDFUL OF AGATHA CHRISTIE BOOKS THAT WERE PUBLISHED BY COLLINS IN THIS PAPERBACK FORMAT IN THE LATE 1930S (the generic cover Collins pbs were not intended to be saved after being read and those few that were saved - hardly any of those survived the paper drives imposed in the UK during WWII). THIS IS THE FIRST PAPERBACK EDITION PER COLLECTING CHRISTIE: "1: Murder on the Orient Express. 8th edition. Dated March 1936, but likely published in April given the other books cited. The correct first state has a price of 6d on the front of the jacket. The rear panel will only list 6 other books. Later editions show longer lists of books, such as 18 titles." Book has no hard vertical spine creasing, no spine lean, no cover creases, no age yellowing to covers, no chipping to covers, almost no wear to spine tips - no tearing at spine tips, no edge wear, no dust/handling soiling, no soiling or staining, no cover rubbing, no former ownership markings or used bookstore stamps inside, pages barely starting to age yellow at edges (as is often found with these pre-WWII Collins pbs), pages are tight and flat with no creased page corners from prior reading, no spine fade. Original Dust Jacket has small chips at spine tips & bottom right corner to front panel (very common defect with these extremely fragile DJs), and couple of tiny nick losses to left edge on spine otherwise no chipping, tearing or creasing, slight wear to spine tips, slight wear to front flap crease, no soiling or staining, slight spine sun darkening to white area on spine, almost no edge wear. Overall a FINE-/N-FINE book in VG/VG+ dust jacket of a rare Agatha Christie pre-WWII FIRST PAPERBACK PRINTING book OF ONE OF THE "TOP 3" AGATHA CHRISTIE KEY BOOKS.
