12mo, pp viii, 230, [2, adverts], with advert leaf for the sixth edition of volume one facing the title page, bound in contemporary calf, a little worn at corners, neatly rebacked, and without volume reference, spine gilt ruled with raised bands and red label, early name of W Weddell to the title page, a sound clean copy, FIRST EDITION; this is a separate publication from the first volume which Noble published initially in 1744, and subsequently enlarged and re-issued several times until this second collection was added to the the then reprinted sixth edition. Yet whilst the first volume was clearly popular and a relatively common work this second volume which has a separate entry in ESTC, is rare, with ESTC recording only the BL and Huntingdon copies. Some of the contributions to this collection of amusing and sometimes risque poetic tales are attributed but many are not. Seller Inventory # 30715
