在那個時代，沒有電腦，也沒有維基百科，就連英文歌詞，也不太容易找到。今天完全不同了，不必再找唱片或者錄音帶，而隨時可以在網上，欣賞到絕大多數的歌曲，包括這本書裡全部所提及的。而且在現時的網上，多的是各種分析音樂的文章，不像從前的年頭。然而，物以稀為貴，如今資源是如此的豐富，一切反而卻會貶值了。

王宇安，江蘇吳縣人，美國伊利諾大學畢業，加州建築師，曾任職公私機構。退休後從事寫作，並致力於作曲。熱衷藝術、文學與音樂，曾在台灣担任西洋歌曲合唱團鍵盤手，以及夜總會駐唱歌手。早年著有「長青曲集」一書，並任台灣新生報「樂府」週刊之專欄作家多年。
