About the Author

Hans-Heinrich Engel (1921-1973) devoted himself to homeopathy and had his own practice. In anthroposophy he found his very own direction. After World War II circumstances brought him to Scotland, to the first Camphill Community founded by Dr KArl Koenig. Here he lived and worked with children with complex needs and learning disabilities. In 1960 he became principal of Camphill Community Glencraig in Northern Ireland of until his untimely death at the age of 52. With the help of the musicologist Professor Dr Hermann Pfrogner and in cooperation with friends active in the field of music, and also always inspired by children in need of therapy, Engel developed, in the course of the year 1960, a 'Musical Anthropology', very conscious of the fact that he was entering new territory.
