Musical Ornamentation, Part II: From C. Ph. E. Bach to the Present Time [1893]

Language: English. Approximately 192 pages. English : Print-on-demand reprint. Original edition : 1893. PLEASE NOTE: this is PART II of two. Edward Dannreuther's Musical Ornamentation was published by Novello, in the Music Primers and Educational Series, in two separate parts; the volume offered here is Part II, whose title page reads "(PART II.)" and whose half-title reads "FROM C. PH. E. BACH TO THE PRESENT TIME". It carries the history and practical realisation of ornaments forward from Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach to the author's own contemporaries — Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Weber, Schubert, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt and Wagner — and closes with the tables of realisation and the index that performers most often look for. Part I, from Diruta to Johann Sebastian Bach, is a separate volume and is NOT included. A standard reference for performers, teachers and students of historical performance practice, with abundant music examples throughout. Text in English. Book images are non-contractual.
