24 essays by Proctor and four others (inc. Clodd and Grant Allen) first published in the weekly popular science journal 'Knowledge'. unpag. prelims+342+(2, Proctor list)+24 (pub.catalogue), 9 figs in Andrew Wilson chapter 'Found Links'. Gutter opening, but quite secure, before first essay, brown flecking to fore-edge, otherwise internally clean, tight and unmarked. Red cloth covers clean and virtually unworn bar slight spine end rubbing. Topics tend to be on natural history and evolution but also include 'dreams', 'thought reading', Fiji, and 'germs of disease and death' as well as two opening essays by Proctor on Darwin and 'Newton and Darwin'. All editions now scarce in anything like reasonable condition. Note: quoted shipping rates are calculated for 500-700 gram net weight, cost will be modified up or down as appropriate outside this range.
