NBA Game Day (Hardcover Edition)

Packed with more than seventy-five official NBA photographs, a fan's look into the hidden world of professional basketball highlights players during travel and meal times, with their families, and more.

Gr. 3^-8. "Viewing the photographs collected in this book is like having a curtain lifted for us, revealing a world we'd only guessed at." So begins this photo-collage of a day in the life of the NBA--from the morning workout, known as a shootaround, to the custodian's sweeping the court after the game. In between, a player conducts a clinic for children, trainers help with injuries, coaches set strategy, and a game is played. Members from many teams are featured: Charles Barkley is shown stretching, Cedric Ceballos is pictured laughing during an interview, and Dennis Rodman is caught flying through the air, parallel to the floorboards. Basketball fans of a wide variety of ages will enjoy this book, which celebrates not only the sport but also the photographers (26 of whom are represented) who capture the essence of the game for the sports pages of our newspapers.
