NERO WOLFE CONTRA EL FBI

When Mrs. Rachel Bruner walks into Nero Wolfe’s office and hands him a check for $100,000, the private investigator known for his large build and larger personality is intrigued. It seems that Mrs. Bruner has made an enemy out of the FBI by buying 10,000 copies of a tell-all book and sending them to influential people in the government. Now she thinks that the bureau is wire-tapping her phone and tailing her, and she wants Wolfe to make it stop. Wolfe agrees, despite his sharp assistant Archie Goodwin’s objections, and soon finds himself in confrontation with the all-powerful FBI director, J. Edgar Hoover. A riveting detective novel, this Rex Stout classic is also a passionate outcry against the witch hunt led by Hoover and the bureau during the McCarthy era.
