Dark Red paper covered boards with cloth quarterbinding gilt titles with gilt and black decs. Series of 23 b/w fold out views on glossy cream paper of Southampton Hants. Date and publisher not stated circa 1870's or possibly a little earlier however initials incorporated in design to front panel of E&S suggests Eyre and Spottiswoode was the publisher of this tourist souvenier. Includes views of the following :- Southampton Bar, The Old Prison, The Royal Pier, Bargate, Netley Hospital, The Floating Bridge, Netley Abbey etc. VG ( Light wear to extremities of boards and gilt a little dulled and worn. No previous owner name or insc. The folds of the concertina type booklet have recently been reinforced on the reverse with a quality book binding linen mull as several of the folds were spliting and detatching. No other notable defects) Please see our images of the actual item offered for sale. A seemingly relatively scarce item of historical interest to collectors of books and views of Southampton.
