Juliet and her dad have been moving around a lot due to gentrification. Moving so frequently caused Juliet to feel down, and she has a lot of anxiety now. With the help of the New Kid Rule Book, she overcomes these feelings and is more comfortable at her new school.

Young Authors Publishing is a children's book publisher that exists to share the stories of Black & Brown children. We believe in writing our future. That's why we're switching up the narrative, publishing books for children and young adults that reflect how diverse our world is. We're on a mission to empower the authors of tomorrow, using their words to change the dialogue around representation in literature. We're the next generation of publishing here to start a movement through our books of change.

About the Authors

Sydney Jeffrey is fourteen years old. She likes to draw, listen to music, and play lacrosse. She has been playing sports since she was in kindergarten, and she enjoys being an athlete. She hopes to play lacrosse throughout high school and college. One day, she wants to be a pediatrician, because she would love to work with kids and their health.

Young Authors Publishing is a nonprofit children's book publisher that exists to share the stories of children. We believe that all kids are story worthy and that every child should see themselves and their experiences reflected in the books they read. Our two-part mission is to produce diverse and culturally relevant children's books and to use book publishing as a vehicle to economic mobility for our young authors. Royalties from their book sales are deposited into a savings account for each young author to access at 18 to use toward their post-secondary plans.
