The 8" x 5 3/4" album of 20 leaves/39 pages possesses a total of 40 photographs. The front cover is peeling from the board, and the spine is held together in two places with scotch tape. Dr. W.F. McKee is embossed in gold framed in the center of the cover. Smaller text on cover, reads: February 1911, Mr. John Fritz compliments of Mr. J.W. McKee. There are 29 empty leaves at the back of the album. The first page opens with an image of a tug boat moving along the New York Harbor, towing the S.S. Antilles (1906) through the waterways surrounding Manhattan Island. The S.S. Antilles vessel was a combined passenger and cargo ship belonging to the fleet of the Southern Pacific Steamship Company. This album showcases the 1911 trip from New York to New Orleans, a frequent route for the mariner. Below this initial image is a caption which reads: "Just as this picture was being taken a dynamite explosion occurred on [opposite] side of the river, killing 36 men. 2/11/11"… Upon brief investigation it was found that the railroad and dock workers suspected of mishandling the dynamite were arrested days later. Images in the beginning of this album are of tugboats and other ships in the waterways while on the photographers journey south, including a beautiful four-masted schooner off the coast of Georgia. This is followed by pictorial representation of the footpath through City Park, New Orleans, displaying the natural scenery: the large old oaks, the lagoon, the geese, as well as the man-made monuments; followed by a view of Canal Street and various views across the Mississippi River. Three images of a tugboat indicate assistance provided for the S.S. Antilles. One image of a lighthouse at the mouth of a Mississippi documents a structure which no longer stands. The final two images are portraits of two young children, roughly one years old and three years old. While the majority of images are provided with script captions, these two children remain unnamed.
