Folio size hardcover volume in green leather boards. Some one had this rebound at some point in time not recently. This is a very rare atlas but it has some issues. The inner front endpaper has a name and date of someone in Washington D.C. in 1860 looks like Macon Bonner. This is tipped onto the back of a chart of the rivers and mountains of the world.There is a light water stain to the top right of this page.The tile page also has a water stain to the top right. The contents page and the map of the world also have a watermark on top right. After this the watermark stops. North America map 2 is fine. The 2 page U.S. has a split on lower part of fold but is complete with no other faults. Texas map is in good condition. Maps thru no. 37 all ok but 34 Wisconsin is missing. 38 and 39 Nebraska New Mexico and Kansas have a old repaired tear on bottom right corners. They also have a angled tear in top center. The Kansas map is 2 page. All maps from 38 thru 53 have the repaired tear in the lower left corner. other than 38 and 39 all other repaired maps are other countries. Switzerland and northern Italy have some markings on left edge from plant material. Russia in Asia has a 3 inch repaired tear. Last two maps Egypt and Oceanica have spotting and watermarks. There are 6 2 page maps U.S. N.Y. Penn. Kansas Europe Crimea and the Baltic region. Most all U.S. maps are quite good with a few edge spots. Can send more pics if needed. Seller Inventory # 4936
