NIGHTFALL

NIGHTFALL: THE COUNTDOWN
The Nightfall Series — Book One
126 hours. Four hostages. One submarine they were never supposed to find.
CIA operations officer Alan Shepard travels to Singapore hoping to give his wife and two children something his career has stolen too often—time together.
Instead, his family disappears.
A professionally executed abduction leaves Alan, Emily, Ethan, and Olivia in the hands of an enemy whose demands make little sense. Then a video reaches CIA headquarters through a classified system no outsider should be able to penetrate.
The message is simple:
Comply—or the hostages die.
The clock begins at 126 hours.
But CIA analyst Rebecca Thorne quickly realizes something is wrong. The kidnappers are leaving clues. Not mistakes. Breadcrumbs.
Every discovery points north.
Toward the Yellow Sea.
Toward an increasingly dangerous concentration of Chinese and North Korean military activity.
And toward something the United States has spent years trying to keep hidden.
Thousands of miles away, Captain Marcus Hawkins is bringing USS Nightfall (SSNA-001) toward Hawaii after thirty-five days at sea.
Nightfall is not an ordinary attack submarine.
She is the United States Navy's most advanced undersea platform—built to move faster, dive deeper, strike harder, and disappear from the forces sent to find her.
She is also exactly where someone expects her to be.
In Okinawa, CIA paramilitary commander Raul Martinez and twenty-five operators are preparing for a mission that may never be authorized. Alan Shepard is still alive. His family is still alive.
But reaching them may require something no aircraft, surface ship, or conventional rescue force can provide.
Raul needs a submarine.
And he knows exactly who to call.
That call changes everything.
Washington orders Nightfall toward Pearl Harbor.
The Navy wants control of its submarine.
The CIA wants its people back.
China is watching.
North Korea is moving.
Russia is paying attention.
And somewhere between Hawaii and the Yellow Sea, someone is waiting to see what Captain Marcus Hawkins will do next.
Because the hostage crisis may not be the real operation.
It may only be the bait.
As the countdown falls and the trap begins to reveal itself, Hawkins faces a choice every commander fears:
Obey the order—or accept the consequences of doing what he believes must be done.
From U.S. Navy submarine veteran Dan Dilbert comes the opening novel in a four-part military techno-thriller blending submarine warfare, covert intelligence operations, geopolitical tension, family, loyalty, and command under pressure.
The countdown has begun.
Some secrets should stay beneath the surface.
