Limited Edition of 1,000 copies for England and America, this is No. 5. Volume I contains the Fables for the first 5 Nights, 5 Fables per Night. Frontispiece illustrated with a scene from "The Siren", protected with Tissue Guard. XXVIII (28) Preliminary Pages + 276 Pages. Top page edges mostly uncut so this volume is probably unread. Volume II Contains the Fables for the 6th to 13th Nights. Frontispiece illustrated with a scene from "Bertuccio's Bride", protected with Tissue Guard. 323 Pages. Nice edition, illustrated with 18 Plates by E. R. Hughes, protected by tissue guards. Brown Silk Cloth cover with beautiful indented Gilt illustration of a Maiden placing a wreath around a bull's neck in top left corner. Indented Gilt lettering to spine. Page edges untrimmed. Beautiful illustrated Bookplate by E. R. Hughes for G. Waters, dated 1893 on Endpaper. It depicts a Winged figure in a Medieval ship with 3 Swans on it's shield and a Dog with an arrow in it's teeth on the sail. , 11 1/2" Tall. Slight edge wear. No inscriptions. Pages slightly age darkened but in very good, clean condition. Some very faint foxing to endpapers. . Set Weighs 2.5 Kilos so Shipping outside UK will be extra.
