Pp. 80(last blank); med. 8vo; red cloth, lettered and decorated in blue; patterned endpapers; Dogwood Press, Seattle, 1955. *First published in 1863 at Olympia, at the office of the Washington Standard. Randall H. Hewitt, pioneer newspaper publisher, lived in Olympia from 1862 until 1876, when he moved to Los Angeles. In 1906 he expanded Notes by the Way into a book of 521 pages entitled Across the plains and over the divide, a mule train journey from east to west in 1862 . .
