Developed specifically for grades 9-12, this resource presents classroom-ready lessons that support the ISTE Standards for Students (formerly NET standards). Use the lessons, which focus on four essential skills (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity), to take instruction and learning to the next level using technology. Each chapter includes strategies for developing authentic learning experiences and ends with discussion questions for personal reflection.

Meg Ormiston, in her role as a consultant, partners with school systems that have committed to 21st century learning experiences for everyone. Meg creates a unique partnership in each district, reflecting the mission, vision, and direction that local leaders identify. Her districtwide projects include guiding teams through the visioning process, designing and delivering professional development, facilitating classroom modeling, developing student leaders in technology, and educating parents.

Meg is a teacher, a keynote speaker, and an author of seven books, including Creating a Digital-Rich Classroom, which received an honorable mention in the education category for the 2010 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards.

Scott D. Parker is a passionate and innovative educator who believes in the power of educational technology. His experience spans 17 years in high school science education in a large suburban high school just outside of Chicago, including co-teaching for ten years with a special education teacher. Over the course of the last few years, Scott has embraced the use of Chromebooks in the classroom. He led the way from piloting Chromebooks in his district to full implementation of a 1:1 environment of almost 6,500 students. Besides being a classroom teacher, for the past two years, Scott has been an instructional technology coach for his building.

Tom Lubbers teaches mathematics at a high school in the suburbs of Chicago. He has taught at both the middle school and high school level. At the middle school level, he was fortunate enough to pilot a 1:1 device program. During that time, he integrated the Common Core math curriculum with iPads. He was able to experience firsthand the impact technology can have on student learning. He took that experience and knowledge with him to the high school level, where he is now working with student Chromebooks. Tom enjoys looking for new ways to incorporate technology in the classroom in a way that promotes an appreciation for mathematics.

Gretchen Fitzharris teaches mathematics at a high school in the suburbs of Chicago. She has been privileged to teach in a district that emphasizes technology and encourages educators to think outside of the box to try new technology and expand student learning. Gretchen has also taught the AVID program at her school and been able to experience the use of technology and its benefits outside of her core content area. She has co-taught special education classes as well. Gretchen's school has a 1:1 learning environment, and she is passionate about holding her students to a high level of rigor.

Ellen K. Lawrence is an advocate for 21st century learning. She is a certified leader, librarian, and technology specialist. She has experience teaching elementary, high school, and college-level students. Her current district's library program was named the 2012 National School Library Program of the Year by the American Library Association. As one of two library directors in the district, Ellen focuses on ways to support student and teacher performance across the curriculum.

Katie N. Aquino served for several years as a high school English and video-production teacher and technology-integration coach. Katie is currently an instructional coach in suburban Chicago. She is focused on the quality integration of innovation into the curriculum in order to best support and further student learning. She is passionate about growing 21st century learners and thinkers by leveraging inquiry, creativity, and problem solving in the classroom. Katie is a Google Certified Teacher, Trainer, and Innovator and helps other teachers incorporate new and emerging technologies.
