NURO: A Brain-Based Analysis of Tactical Training and The Basis of Design For The World*s Most Capable Tactical Training System

In 2016 firearms trainer and former naval officer Dustin Salomon published the landmark book Building Shooters: Applying Neuroscience Research to Tactical Training System Design and Training Delivery. This groundbreaking work upended the firearms and tactical training industry by demonstrating a fundamental flaw in standard training methodology--training delivery is not aligned with how the human brain learns.

After nearly six years of additional research and development, the company Building Shooters is now preparing to release a new and revolutionary training technology: The NURO(TM) Shooting System (Patent Pending). NURO summarizes the research and provides both the background and basis of design.

The book performs a technical deep dive into tactical training methods from a brain-based perspective, containing the most thorough analysis of the subject yet conducted.

It demonstrates why what we do today is not only inefficient and excessively expensive, but also why it doesn't work very well. The book then details point-by-point how the NURO(TM) Shooting System was designed to address a series of critical, long-standing tactical training issues.

Simply put, NURO(TM) changes the game. Designed using extensive scientific literature review, this simple, yet revolutionary set of tools both radically changes the tactical training landscape and fundamentally alters the concept of human tactical performance measurement.

NURO(TM) takes simulation out of the simulator. It allows visual skills, context, thinking, and decision-making to be integrated into every aspect of skill development training. It also provides these groundbreaking capabilities at consumer and individual issue price points, making them available to every part of the training industry.

The book’s topics include de-escalation, tactical visual skills, mobility, engineering neuroplastic change to enhance human performance potential, decision-making, sympathetic fire, a radical re-thinking of the concept of fidelity in training environments, the differences between training and learning, reducing organizational liability through training design, and more.

NURO clearly illustrates why the NURO(TM) Shooting System represents a quantum leap forward—advancing what is possible to achieve during training.

This is a must read for advanced tactical shooters, firearms and tactical trainers, military training officers and NCOs, security and defense officials, police administrators, public policy makers, and anyone else who wants to understand why effective training and management of armed workforces is so difficult to get right—and how to do it better.

The future of use-of-force training and tactical performance enhancement starts here.

The future is now. The future is NURO.
