My Name is Also Freedom: The Shari Ho Story

“…My heart was pounding so loud I could feel the blood pulsing in my ears. Every nerve was on alert. Did I hear someone behind me? I rolled the garbage cans to the curb, like I did every Thursday night in this wealthy town, the only task I did unattended, a brief moment away from the watchful eyes of my captors, those I had been sold a slave to when I was just seven years old in Taiwan. Now was my chance to escape. I bolted, running as fast as I could towards the end of the street and into the car that was waiting for me. Everything I owned I left behind, except the tattered shirt and dirty pants I wore, clothes that reminded me of the life I had been living these past twenty years—a torn and ravaged existence, a victim of human trafficking...” Shari Ho’s incredible story of slavery and survival to inspirational speaker will grip your soul and challenge you to speak up on behalf of the silent ones around you, those who long to say....“My Name is Also Freedom.”

“Shari Ho’s story was as heartbreaking to learn as it was compelling to read about. Melodie Fox retold her experience and found Shari’s voice with a straight forward sort of compassion that managed to convey the horrific reality while showing her undeniable resilience. Shari’s life as a slave to a heartless and calculating Old Lady was not enough to destroy her spirit and faith in God. Through the tears I felt hope. And just as I was feeling disappointed in all those who could have helped Shari during her desperate journey, I was inspired by those who ultimately stepped in and committed themselves to her freedom. A non-stop read, Melodie Fox channeled the inner voice of Shari such that you felt like you were there alongside her, trapped, enraged, hopeful, free.

This book is a must-read for anyone looking to understand more about the reality and dynamics of modern-day slavery.”

“This book is amazing! I love how authentic Shari was... It isn't just her story of being trafficked but of the hardships and victories that came after. It was raw and honest and different.”
