recent cloth, spine with black morocco label, all edges tinted yellow., A mineralogist and chemist associated with the University of Pennsylvania (1822-1828), he was a central figure in the scientific community in Philadelphia during the 1820s and 1830s. Active in the American Philosophical Society and Academy of Natural Sciences, and a founding member of the Franklin Institute, Keating was the official geologist on Stephen Harriman Long's expedition to the Great Lakes in 1823 and spent three years in the late 1820s surveying the mineral resources of Mexico. His work with Long represented one of the first topographic and mineralogical surveys of the Great Lakes, for which he was given responsibility for compiling and publishing the results as Narrative of an Expedition to the Source of St. Peter's River : Lake Winnepeek, Lake of the Woods, &c., &c. Performed in the year 1823., Size : 8vo, 7 engraved plates including a frontis of native americans entitled ?Wanton and his son? engraved by R. Fenner, 3 folding tables. All prices are given and payable in, U.S. Dollars, and are subject to change without notice. Items may also be purchased in other currencies at that days exchange rate (local).
Payment may be made by money order, cheque, Mastercard, and Visa. In case of payment with a credit card, we require a signed order, with card details (the number and expiry date) and the full billing address of the card.
