His second expedition--the subject of this book-- succeeded in charting all of the way to California, mapping and confirming the Oregon Trail as the route for pioneers heading toward the West. This book is a reprint of John Charles Fraemont's original text published in 1845, with the addition of an introduction and further history and information provided by the editor.
