A slight motion of the head and body is all of which he is capable. The faculties of the mind and the vocal organs remain unimpaired. In such a state of helplessness he has written this volume, by having the manuscript laid on a frame attached to the front of his chair, and holding the pen in his teeth, as represented in the engraving."
