Item description from seller

Rare original 1851 biography of a man named Justin Wells, who became a quadriplegic after coming down with a debilitating illness. The preface states that he wrote the book "by having the manuscript laid on a frame attached to the front of his chair, and holding the pen in the teeth." The frontispiece portrait is meant to illustrate this writing process. The book is overall in good condition with some minor signs of wear and age. The covers have some light wear with some sunning to the spin. The binding is good and sound. There are some large penciled inscriptions to the endpapers with a blind stamp to the rear blank flyleaf. The interior is toned from age with some occasional mild foxing. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a minor interior crack, creased page corner, minor stain or marking, tiny chip or tear, etc. Generally though, it's a nice copy. The book measures approximately 6 1/4 inches by 4 inches and is 96 pages long with the aforementioned frontispiece portrait. Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition.…
