William Wells Brown (c. 1814-1884) was born a slave in Kentucky but escaped when he was 19 and settled in Boston and then Buffalo. He became an author and abolitionist, publishing Narrative of William W. Brown, a Fugitive Slave, in 1847; in 1849 he went to England lecturing in support of the abolition of slavery. In Very Good+ Condition: cover is slightly browned; edges are rubbed; clean and tight.
