Mimi, Coconut, the rescue pup, and the mystery-solving students from the Spanish Moss School are about to discover why New York City is called 'The City that Never Sleeps'--a perfect setting for a midnight mystery! George, Neemie, Sally, and Rabon are excited to explore Broadway, fill up on street food, and see the bright lights of Times Square. But this is no typical trip to the Big Apple--there's a mystery looming. Before the night is through, Mimi, Coconut, and the students will uncover ghostly secrets (and the importance of sticking together!) on this eerie expedition through Manhattan. What they thought was an ordinary field trip turns out to be anything but when they get locked in the New York Public Library! Scared and separated, with just their maps to help them navigate, the kids each find themselves tasked with a different set of clues in a spooky scavenger hunt. It's up to them to locate the historical artifacts hidden in the library before sunrise! Their mission will require a lot of Patience... but do they have the Fortitude? It's a mad dash in the dark, made even more unnerving thanks to the assistance of some helpful haunts and a pair of sizeable statuary in The Narrow Escape at the New York Public Library. ADVENTURE - HISTORY - MYSTERY - HUMOR - AND A RESCUE PUP! KIDS WILL LOVE THIS BOOK, EAT UP THIS SERIES - STONE LIONS AND ALL! "What kid can resist a library with two giant stone lions keeping guard out front? This premise and the idea that you just might get locked in the library and have to spend the night was irresistible to me! I always say I am a fourth-grader forever, so no wonder I put my author self in the books with the kids so we can have fun together!" - Carole Marsh

Carole Marsh started her writing career in 1979, when she self-published her first mystery for kids, the Missing Head Mystery, which starred her own children, Michael and Michele, as characters. Over the past 30-plus years, Marsh has been the creative force behind a multitude of children's books and educational materials, including the award-winning educational mystery series, Real Kids - Real Places, and her most recent series, The Mystery of the Haunted Library.
