The Narrow Sea

The story chronicles Mungo Shaw's coming of age. Born and raised in 18^th Century Ayrshire he was well-educated and in line to inherit the family farm, yet he went off to sea.

He quickly became a talented seaman but his readiness to take risks drove him into hazardous situations.

In those lawless and violent days how would Mungo prosper or indeed how long could he survive?

Hamish Morrison lives in Ayr. He was educated at Kilmarnock Academy and Dartmouth Royal Naval College. Following naval service he had a career in economic development and latterly represented the Scottish fishing industry. His naval background combined with a lifelong interest in literature and a fascination with 18th Century Scottish history are dominant influences in his novel the Narrow Sea.
