About the Author: Albert Bender is a Cherokee Indian from Oklahoma. Albert attended the University of Oklahoma and received his law degree from the University of Kentucky. He has devoted his career to working with and representing Native American causes nationwide. An avid writer, Bender's articles on social commentary as well as the culture and issues facing Native Americans have appeared in a variety of local and national publications. Albert also serves on the board of the Native American Indian Association of Tennessee. Albert resides in Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife Melanie and son Jeff. He is a Board Member of the Native American Indian Association of Tennessee, an Eagle Award recipient presented by Tennessee Native American Eagle Organization, a group promoting Native American culture, traditions, and lifeways. He is a former Chief Tribal Court Judge and a Former Director of Native American Tribal Legal Departments.
