Natural Fiber: A Path to SDG-Oriented Sustainable Development: Green Fibers Strong Future

This book explores the growing use of natural fibers in engineering due to their sustainability, lightweight nature, and potential for high performance in sectors like automotive, aerospace, and construction. Fibers such as hemp, jute, flax, and kenaf offer advantages like low density, biodegradability, and cost-effectiveness, making them ideal substitutes for synthetic fibers like glass and carbon. Natural fiber reinforced composites (NFRCs) are increasingly used in automotive components to reduce weight and improve fuel efficiency. In aerospace, they contribute to lighter, stronger materials that enhance fuel economy. In construction, natural fibers support eco-friendly practices through insulation, concrete reinforcement, and green building materials. This book discusses their mechanical properties, environmental benefits, processing challenges, and long-term durability concerns. It also highlights innovations in fiber treatment and composite fabrication. By examining current applications and future potential, this book emphasizes the role of natural fibers in advancing sustainable engineering solutions for a greener future.
