London: Printed for T Lowndes, 1779, A New Edition. Recent half leather binding with gilt titles to leather label. First published 1737. Engraved frontispiece and 23 further engraved plates, each depicting the cock, hen, and in most cases the egg of a common English song bird. Includes the final advertisement leaf. Rebound recently in half calf over marbled boards with spine divided into six compartments by raised bands; new endpapers; damp staining throughout. Pagination: [iv], 107, [4]pp. Provenance: the surname Johnstone to the top of the title page. Approximately 7 ½ inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine very good condition gilt titles to red label, five gilt lined raised bands. Joints very good condition. Corners very good condition. Boards very good condition minor marks. Page edges good condition tanned and darkened. See above and photos. Internally Hinges very good condition sound. Paste downs good condition new paste downs. End papers good condition new end papers. Title good condition tanned, foxed and damp stained, ink name to the top, small portion torn out of the edge of the title page. Pages good condition tanned foxed and damp stained throughout, some small closed tears, a long closed tear to page 35-36 without loss, small hole to page 33 without loss of text.
