Includes the first 2 volumes of the 36-volume set regarding the history and theory of the earth and a general history of animals, respectively. Both fold-out plates in volumes 1 are present in terrific condition. From the collection of Wayne Prescott Suttles, renowned anthropologist, scholar, and linguist regarding many Pacific cultures, and especially the U.S. Pacific Northwest Coast Salish people. Provenance provided upon request. Condition notes: 514 numbered pp (vol 1) and 517 numbered pp (vol 2); HB. Pages: clean, ivory, tight, red speckled edgestain, portrait frontis (vol 1); back boar disbound but present, front board wiggly but hanging in there, edges tanned, textblock solid and clean. Cover: textured tan cloth w/ sheepskin backstrip and tips, gilt titles to black spineblock, 5 raised bands; substantial shelfwear, extrems well worn, leather worn through, joints cracked.
