The Natural Science of Human Identity

What are we? Who are we? These two questions lie at the heart of the human identity debate—and while science has answered the first with extraordinary precision, the second remains unresolved.

Modern biology can describe the human organism down to its cellular architecture and genomic code. It can tell us what we are: physical beings whose genetic structure is overwhelmingly continuous with other life forms. But science cannot tell us who we are. Questions of meaning, purpose, consciousness, moral agency, and spiritual identity lie beyond the reach of microscopes and particle accelerators.

This groundbreaking book confronts the crisis of human identity by proposing a unified framework in which the human person is understood as a tripartite being—Body, Soul, and Spirit—whose structure mirrors the subatomic architecture of matter. Drawing an isomorphic correspondence between electrons, neutrons, and protons and Body, Soul, and Spirit, the book argues that the Spirit functions as humanity’s invariant Ontological Identification Code, much like the atomic number defines the identity of an element.

This model invites science and theology into a disciplined partnership—not to collapse one field into the other, but to illuminate together the deeper truth of human identity. It challenges Materialist Reductionism, reframes evolutionary theory within a broader ontological structure, and aligns with Pope John Paul II’s affirmation that while the human body may emerge through evolutionary processes, the soul is “immediately created by God.”

Belonging to the series “The Signature of God on the Capstone of Creation,” this volume continues the exploration of the profound symmetry between physical and spiritual laws. It builds on the author’s earlier work, “The Law of Symmetry and the Fate of Humanity,” which introduced the Theory of Isomorphic Relationship Between the Physical and Spiritual Universes.

Science knows what we are. Theology knows who we are. This book brings them together on a Unified Ontological Framework—where the structure of matter and the structure of human identity reveal a single, symmetrical design woven into both the physical and spiritual universes.

In an age marked by moral uncertainty, social fragmentation, and existential instability, this book offers a bold, integrative vision of what it means to be human—and why rediscovering our true identity is essential for the future of civilization.
