NAVIGATING A TRIPLE PANDEMIC is a mighty collective work of 15 Black and Brown healthcare champions who confront racism, health disparities and the trauma of COVID-19 head-on.
Theirs are stories, that would normally go untold, of perseverance, strength and unconquerable character. These noble men and women bore the brunt of racist assaults while sacrificing to care for others, grew weary but undeterred as they addressed underlying and comorbid disease that disproportionately burdened their communities and braved the frontlines in a pandemic that seemed to have a ferocious appetite for people that looked like them and in communities where they chose to serve.
In a rare moment of raw vulnerability and authenticity, they share details of adversity, triumph, disappointment, tragedy and resolve and the outcome is both powerful and empowering. Therefore, we thank them for more than their service, we thank them for serving despite their pain, their hurt and their traumas. We thank them for being heroes!
