About the Authors

Michael Evele has been a physics teacher for 36 years and counting. He was a Science Olympiad coach for 21 years (including student teaching). In 1998, he along with Natalie Lowell and Spencer Dolloff founded the RoboDawgs. Though physics teaching is his passion, as with most teachers, it's really all about the students. Mike is grateful for an amazing career getting to know and love so many incredible students.

Doug Hepfer was a successful Partner at one of the world's largest consulting firms until his kids got involved with competitve robotics. Or, more accurately, his and his wife Rosemary volunteered t coach his son's elementary Lego League team. That one team turned into two, then four, and then more than 20 Lego League teams in Grandville, Michigan. Doug had been a youth group leader, a mission trip organizer, and a scoutmaster. He found he had a passion for the way competitive robotics altered the trajectories of the kids that participated.
