The Needle: Assorted Collection of Production Sheets

The Needle was a New York based alternative magazine in the mid-1960s. Thematically it was somewhat similar to other counterculture publications like the East Village Other, the Fuck You Press, or The Rat, with satirical stories, comix, and poetry. Although politically left, chauvinistic humor was the predominant theme of The Needle. This collection contains original layout pages for the second issue, as well as a couple of photographs with editorial instructions, assorted mimeo-typescript poetry contributions by Christopher Rano, and correspondence to the editor. The issue also had a dominant double-fold poster featuring several collages of the Statue of Liberty made by Rano, several of which are present here.
