The book explains the significance given to parents and elderly during the rule of major dynasties in India. Also, the book tells that the elderly were instrumental in the upkeep of the society in the olden days. The impact of western education on the Indian social system and its aftermath on the life of elderly in India during the British rule and post- independence are briefly discussed in this book. Legislations like the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act 1956, section 125 of CrPC (Section 144 of BNSS) and a special legislation enacted for the elderly, i.e., MWPSC Act, 2007 are briefly explained in the book.
