About the Author

Lok Raj Baral is a professor of political science and former ambassador of Nepal to India. He was visiting professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, and visiting fellow at Chr Michelsens Institute in Bergen, Norway. He was also the head of political science department at Tribhuvan University and president of Nepal Council of World Affairs as well as Political Science Association of Nepal. Prof. Baral has worked on 25 books, both authored and edited, and has published articles in leading international journals, including Asian Survey, Pacific Affairs, Pacific Community (Tokyo), Journal of Democracy, South Asian Survey, International Studies (JNU), among others.
