No Date but circa 1870/1900 ? . An Early Edition. (A long gift 'letter' on the front end pastedown - dated 1910 - in English from "Uncle Willie and Uncle Willie No.2" ) The Map starts from inside the back board. The 'Souvenir' book itself measures 30 cm x 18 cm Landscape. (Rectangular) into which the panoramic map is folded. The Map itself when opened out measuring *approx 2.64 metres (nearly 9 feet long). In Scarlet Red cloth embossed boards (Very Slightly Bumped corners. Some very light wear to upper and lower ends of the spine ) with highly ornate Bright Gilt decoration to the border and Bright Gilt titling. Encased in the boards is the VERY LARGE* fold out Steel Engraved, and Highly Pictorial Panoramic Map of the Rhine, in black and white with 46 vignette views of all the towns, and of the important places and people along the river from Coln (Cologne) to Mannheim. Beneath the final town of Mannheim is a highly decorated poem by Heinrich Heine in three languages - English, French and German - with 2 views - Cologne Moguntia Aurea, 2 heraldic vignettes and an illustration of Die Lorelei ('The Lorelei') . Internally 2 Tears (with No Loss) on either side of the fold/crease line of this last section. Overall the Map is very clean, tight and bright, some slight - very light - foxing spotting to the first 2 'sections' but pretty negligible, you have to look hard to see it. Blind stamped on the rear board is - H. Siebenhar, Coln - I presume this is the seller? . Overall a Lovely copy, the best I've seen for many years. See Images. ; Oblong 4to.
