Friedrich Wilhelm Delkeskamp (1794-1872) was a popular German painter of the 19th century. This concertina-style foldout map of the entire length of the Rhine River was apparently published as a souvenir guide for tourists of the day. It includes a 26 p. notes brochure affixed to the rear board. It is bound in printed paper-covered boards with a thin leather spine. It is in German on one side and in French on the other. The 17 panel map is complete and intact, with some edge wear, and aging along the fold lines. The binding is still sound, but both covers show significant soiling and staining (See photos) Slight foxing internally, but no other marks or damage. Would be very good but for the soiled covers.
