You'll Never Know, Dear

"There are no words," they say- but this is attempt to find them. In this deeply personal collection, a grieving mother gives voice to the unspeakable-putting into verse the aching silence, shattered moments, and small glimmers of hope that follow the unimaginable loss of a child. Written in the raw and tender first seven months of grief, these poems hold space for sorrow, for memory, for the sacred thread that still ties mother and child. Through tears, through stillness, through flickers of faith, this is a journey through grief-not around it. For anyone who has known deep loss, or stood beside someone who has, this book offers comfort, solidarity, and the quiet reminder: love never ends.

Helen Read is a lifelong lover of words and a dedicated teacher in North Texas. After the sudden loss of her only child, Jensen, at just 12 years old due to cardiac arrest on an ordinary Sunday morning, Helen turned to the one place she had always found refuge-poetry. In the pages of verse, she poured out her grief, her memories, and her search for hope. This collection marks not only her heartbreak, but also her enduring love.
