Synopsis
"Cheryl! Don’t sing that! Jewish girls don’t believe that!” Mother had let her go just once to Vacation Bible School and she learned the song, “Jesus Loves Me.” Growing older, as she learned about the Holocaust and faced anti-Semitism, it was easier to believe that no Jewish girl could believe. As her heart grew hard and cold, she didn’t care. But the time came when, in all His glory and His brilliance, Jesus proved that—yes—Jewish girls could believe. The cover art, “Everlasting to Everlasting,” is by Fraser Leonard, a lifelong lover of Jesus which shows in all his artwork. Fraser weeps every time he talks about that day in his classroom and how his words rocked heaven without him suspecting anything. “I opened my mouth to talk to Cheryl about Jesus. She did not seem at all receptive. It wasn’t until thirty years later that she told me how my words impacted her. I fell on my knees, awed by what God had done through the words of my mouth.” To see more of Fraser’s work, visit www.FraserLeonard.com or his gallery in St. Charles, Missouri.
About the Author
Cheryl Samelson Skid was born in Michigan City, Indiana and spent the first 17 years of her life in the love and protection of the Jewish community. Indiana University opened the doors to wild living after years of being protected as a daughter beloved by her parents. An opportunity opened to live in Israel between her sophomore and junior years of college volunteering and she took it. Everything changed. The foolish coed gave way to the young woman who helped frightened North African and Middle Eastern immigrants prepare for war. Cheryl has been married forty-three years to Neil, was a stay-at-home mom in Florissant, Missouri, until her last child was in kindergarten, and afterward spent twenty-five years teaching English and French, special education, and Bible. She still loves teaching, and as a retired educator finds many opportunities to share her knowledge. Her love of writing began when she was a child. Once she had her encounter with Jesus, she began keeping journals, recording thirty-eight years of God’s amazing grace and power, which provided great material for her books. Her first book, Taking God’s Word to Heart, is a 31-day devotional journal. Never Out of His Sight is her second book, and you can expect the sequel, Clear Vision.
