The New Air World, the Science of Meteorology Simplified

The New Air World, The Science Of Meteorology Simplified — Willis Luther Moore. This public-domain primer, published in 1922, offers an accessible introduction to meteorology for general readers. The author surveys how atmospheres are formed and maintained, the structure of the earth’s four atmospheres, and how heat, light, and temperature operate. It covers the vertical structure of the air, the isothermal stratum, the measurement and interpretation of weather through kites, balloons, thermometers, and barometers, and how weather maps and daily observations translate into forecasts. It discusses practical applications for personal health, farming, and commerce, including humidity in living spaces, frost control, and the forecaster's craft. The text also traces the development of the American Weather Service, describes the role of the Weather Bureau and volunteer observers, and presents a vision of aerial travel and climate's influence on civilization. It is written for general readers, students, and professionals seeking an intuitive grasp of meteorology.
