New Applications in Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis II

Decision-making in science, industry and public administration increasingly requires the simultaneous handling of multiple, often conflicting, criteria under uncertain and data-rich conditions. Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) provides the formal machinery to structure such problems, to elicit expert and stakeholder preferences, and to derive rankings, classifications or compromise solutions that are both defensible and interpretable. This Reprint focuses on new applications of MCDA techniques and on the methodological advances that make them possible. It brings together eighteen peer-reviewed contributions in which classical outranking and utility-based methods are combined with modern extensions-including fuzzy and interval-valued models, Bayesian networks, fuzzy cognitive maps, and hybrid schemes-coupling MCDA with machine learning, artificial intelligence and digital twins. Representative methodological families include BWM, TOPSIS, PROMETHEE II, MABAC, MULTIMOORA, AHP-based frameworks and Belman-Zadeh models. The scope is broad: applications span green supply chains and supplier selection, urban planning and historic-district regeneration, energy storage and power-system reliability, information-technology outsourcing, public procurement, stock-market analysis, foreign-language teaching, healthcare, conflict resolution and the neurophysiology of economic choice. The aim of this Reprint is to consolidate recent progress, foster cross-disciplinary dialogue and highlight open challenges in transparency, robustness and stakeholder engagement for MCDA practitioners and researchers alike.
