In contemporary full mottled calf, with morocco spine label. Rebacked, with the original backstrip laid down and restoration to the head and tail. Closely trimmed in places, only slightly affecting text to some leaves. Marbled endpapers. Bound with the original blanks. A profusely illustrated work, with ninety-eight copper plates. Binder's directions calls for eighty, but title page calls for "upwards of one hundred". Engraved from the drawings of the celebrated Samuel Wale and other eminent artists. Concerning the country's invasions, wars, crusades, plagues, plots, conspiracles, executions, colonies, literature, discoveries and more. With 2pp. list of subscribers, 9pp. index, regal tables of sovereigns of England, a genealogical account of the descent of George III, and binder's directions to the rear.
