Perfect for drummers, music teachers, and advanced students. The New Breed by Gary Chester is a revolutionary drum method designed to transform the way modern drummers approach coordination, creativity, and timing. Developed by one of the most recorded studio drummers of the 1960s and 1970s, this system provides the foundation for mastering the demands of today’s studio and live performance environments. Ideal for serious drummers, it helps players refine focus, balance, and rhythmic control.
What’s Included: This updated edition features access to exclusive online audio, including an insightful interview with Gary Chester. The book introduces a complete system built around independence and concentration training. Rather than isolated drills, each exercise challenges drummers to lead with either hand, develop rhythmic awareness, and expand creativity across styles such as rock, funk, jazz, and fusion. The structured systems are designed to inspire new musical ideas that translate directly to performance.
Why It’s Valuable: The New Breed helps drummers build confidence, enhance timing, and improve coordination under pressure. It’s widely used by professionals and educators alike to strengthen reading skills, left and right-hand lead, and click awareness. Endorsed by renowned drummers including Kenny Aronoff, Danny Gottlieb, and Dave Weckl, this method remains an essential tool for anyone committed to mastering the modern drum set.
Bring your drumming to life. Whether used in lessons, self-study, or professional practice, this book inspires growth and mastery behind the kit. A perfect gift for dedicated drummers or teachers seeking a timeless and transformative practice method.
