A very good condition, scarce, early copy of this celebrated book, with all 78 excellent copper-plates present. The sub-title continues: "Treating fully on practical geometry, soffits, brick and plaister groins, niches of every description, sky-lights, lines for roofs and domes; with a great variety of designs for roofs, trussed girders, floors, domes, bridges etc; staircases and hand-rails of various constructions; angle bars for shop fronts etc; and raking mouldings; with many other things entirely new. The whole founded on true geometrical principles; the theory and practice well explained and fully exemplified on 78 copper-plates (all present and many dated June or October 1792) correctly engraved by the author, including some observations and calculations on the strength of timber". The 19th Century half-leather binding is in very good, tight condition, with all hinges secure. The text too is in very good, tight, clean condition, with hardly any foxing. Light age-browning of the blank end papers only. Early owner's signature on top margin of title page. An excellent example of a sought-after book. Size approx 228 x 210mm. 76 pages of text plus the plates. Weight 896g. See photographs attached.
