Item description from seller

A very scarce coloured atlas, with important statistical information, comprising of twenty-nine maps. A very scarce work. A complete atlas, illustrated with twenty-nine coloured maps. The work shows the entire world, as well as giving information on the population of towns, the height of mountains, and the length of rivers. Engraved by a J. Brown. This is possibly Joseph Brown, an English engraver who first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1833. He used both stipple and line for his engravings, and worked from paintings by artists such as John Hayter, John Opie, George Perfect Harding, and George Romney. Undated, dated from Copac from a copy held at the National Library of Scotland. Collected, complete. In the original half calf binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, with some marks and rubbing to the boards. Spine is lifting a little to the tail of the front joint. Hinges are strained. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with some scattered spotting. Good.
