Isaac Asimov was a professor of biochemistry at Boston University but one of America's most prolific writers, in both science and science fiction. He was best known for his long and extensive career as a science fiction writer but occasionally delved into real science writing. This book- "The New Intelligent Man's Guide to Science" was one of those efforts and was nominated for a National Book Award. Asimov wrote the first version of this book in 1959/1960 but remarks in his Preface, that the book was quickly overtaken by advances in the sciences, hence, he felt compelled to write this "new" version, now dated 1965. Please see the photos of the Table of Contents to find out what you are about to look into. The book is nicely illustrated with what I would characterize as striking "science-oriented" illustrations. Condition: This two volume set of hard cover books is in very good condition. The hard covers are decidedly dust-dulled and the spine a bit faded althougt the titles are still legible. There is a small tear in the cloth of the spine of Volume I. Inside, the news is much better; the interior pages and plates are clean and bright throughout, without toning or foxing. These books have a small square indentation on the rear board meaning that they were book club editions. Both hinges are intact and the bindings are tight, sound and square. These books are not ex-library or remainders.…
