Fort Necessity was a small fort in southwestern Pennsylvania that on 3 July 1754 was the site of the first battle between France and England for control of North America that came to be called the French and Indian War. To better interpret the site, the National Park Service began an archaeological exploration in August 1952. This report describes the explorations and interprets the discoveries i the light of available recorded information. A clean very presentable copy.
