A scarce set of The New Monthly Magazine and Humorist. Edited by Thedore Hook. Complete in two volumes. Theodore Edward Hook (22 September 1788 24 August 1841) was an English man of letters and composer, and briefly a civil servant in Mauritius. He is best known for his practical jokes, particularly the Berners Street Hoax in 1810. In brown cloth bindings with contrasting labels to the spines. Externally, a trifle rubbed. There is some bumping to the top and tail of the spine. Internally, generally firmly bound, though hinges are tender. Pages are generally bright and clean with some minor age-toning Good.
