A New Self-Interpreting Testament, Containing Thousands Of Various Readings And Parallel Passages, With Intr. Arguments &C. By J. Platts. John Platts's late 19th/early 20th-century scholarly reference edition offers a running verse-by-verse exposition of Revelation (with an apologetic defense of biblical harmony) alongside an encyclopedic assortment of related materials: prophecy, names, measures, and chronology. Volume IV (Part 1 of 4 in this chunk) surveys the visions in Revelation—heavenly worship, messages to the seven churches, the opening of the seals, and the rise of the Beast—culminating in the fall of Babylon and the final judgment, and it situates these within a broader program of hermeneutics and biblical interpretation. The included material on Titus, Philemon, Hebrews, James, and the short epistles, plus references and indexes, target clergy and students of biblical studies. The work emphasizes sovereignty of God, perseverance, and the ultimate triumph of Christ through a harmonized, devotional-apologetic approach.
